Recently I got to throw the most fun Hot Wheels Birthday Party! Everyone had a blast and loved every minute of it, so I wanted to share my ideas and the printable decor I made with you here!

If you’re just here for the free printables, and don’t want to read the tips on printing and instructions on how to put these together below, then you can get those HERE.

How to throw an AWESOME Hot Wheels Birthday Party

Ideally, your food and activities will vary depending on the age you’re targeting the party for. However, these ideas should work for any age, and the printable decor is great for any Hot Wheels Birthday Party!

The key to a great birthday party is having:

  • Themed Food (enough for everyone)
  • Themed Decor
  • Fun Games and Activities

Hotwheels Birthday Party Food Ideas

Traffic Lights Brownies

These were so easy to make! I just made a pan of brownies, and dropped in M&M’s in lines like traffic lights and let them bake like normal.

When they were done, I let them cook and then cut them in strips like shown above. Perfect for little hands, and cute themed food at the same time!

Traffic Cones Bugles

This is one of those foods you can just buy at the store, put in a bowl, and let the food card make it a themed food by the power of suggestion! It’s a nice salty mix to break up the sweet.

Fuel Popcorn

Popcorn is never a bad party choice (as long as you don’t mind cleaning up the crushed bits on the floor later) and most people love it! I found these super cute Fuel Popcorn Boxes on Amazon and they were perfect!

Spare Tires Donuts

Who doesn’t love chocolate donuts!!! They look like little tires, and were such a fun addition to the Hot Wheels Birthday Party food table!

Hot Wheels Water Bottles

I always like to have water bottles at my parties. It’s easy to customize with printable labels I make, and having water available is a great break from the sweets too. These are super easy. Print them on regular paper, cut them out, remove the water bottle labels that came on the water bottles, and then tape these on! Easy!

Hot Wheels Birthday Cake

My aunt is AMAZING and makes birthday cakes for all my kids. She does over the top cakes like no one else can and always makes my vision a reality! This Hot Wheels Birthday Cake was so perfect and the birthday boy LOVED it!

Hot Wheels Birthday Decor

Hot Wheels Balloons

I love having a mix of decor I make myself, decor I buy (usually on Amazon), and decor I can just print out to give myself a good balance and to lessen the work load some.

These Hot Wheels birthday balloons came in a pack from Amazon, and I just filled them up with helium and paired them with some latex balloons. They were really good quality!

Hot Wheels Printable Birthday Banner

These are so simple to print and hang. Print the banner on cardstock paper and cut it out. Use a hole punch on the top corners and then run a string or ribbon through and hang it. These are free and are a part of the Hot Wheels printable birthday pack I made!

Checkered Flag Printable Banner

I usually don’t do two printable banners for a birthday party, but I wanted to have a checkered flag banner to have up as well, and didn’t want to buy them – so I made my own!

It’s also part of the free printable birthday party pack so you don’t have to pay for it either!

Race Car Cooler

I LOVE utilizing weird things to be the drink cooler and make it a featured part of the decor for the birthday! This party’s edition was this inflatable race car turned into a Race Car Cooler!

I blew it up (really, I made my husband blow it up), filled it with ice, and put the drinks in about 30 mins before guests arrived.

Personalized Street Sign

This was a MUST buy for me! You can get your own personalized version on Amazon here, and then it can be used as room decor after! They were surprisingly affordable!

Stop Light Plates

This is so cheap and easy to implement! Just buy red, green, and yellow plates and place them in a line on the food table like a stop light!

Inflatable Tires

So I found a pack of four of these inflatable tires on Amazon for really cheap and decided I was going to use them as part of the featured decor for the party – and I’m so glad I did!

Not only do these look cool, but come summer these are totally reusable as pool floats!

Traffic Cone Center Pieces

For the tables, I found some cheap traffic cones and racing flags to use as centerpieces. Use a box knife and make a couple of slits in the top of the cone to push the flag into.

I also used some Hot Wheels confetti, and a ton of Hot Wheels cars on the tables for decor. Use Hot Wheels the party guest of honor already has, or buy a big pack like this one and let it double as a birthday gift after the party is over!

Checkered Table Skirt

I found this checkered table skirt on Amazon and it made for a flashy focus table! It was kind of a pain to put on, but maybe you’ll have more luck than I did!

You can also see the road floor runner that I put in front of the main focus table in this pic as well. It was affordable, and I just used checkered duct tape to tape it to the floor to keep people from tripping over it.

I am a HUGE fan of using wall streamers to cover up a wall or to make it special for the party backdrop! Solid colors make them easy to re-use for other parties and they’re really affordable.

Hot Wheels Birthday Party Activities

Race Car Color-By-Number

Included in the Hot Wheels birthday party printable pack are these fun color-by-number sheets! They work great as a party activity, or as a take-home sheet if you don’t want to have them do it at the party.

Other fun Hot Wheel Birthday Activities:

  • Road Cone Ring Toss – use plastic road cones, and pool rings to make this fun!
  • Hot Wheel Races – use pool noodles to launch cars the farthest, or use chalk to make your own race track!
  • Decorate A Racecar – get blank wooden race cars from Amazon and then let kids decorate them with markers, paints or stickers for a fun activity!

GENERAL PRINTABLE PARTY PACK TIPS

PRINTING

I get these printed professionally to save on ink and to make sure they’re high quality. I find it cheaper for me to have some place like Staples or the UPS Store print these for me than it is to use my printer’s ink. Maybe I just need a new printer.

Print everything BUT  the water bottle labels, game, and Color-By-Number sheet on cardstock. Print the water bottle labels and the Color-By-Number sheet on regular paper so they’re more pliable.

Check the printable pack before printing so you can make sure you get enough of each item that you need. I only include a single sheet of water bottle labels (which is 5 labels) so if you’re planning on having 30 bottles of water, make sure you print six of that page so you have enough. Use that same line of thinking with food cards, coloring sheet etc.

CUTTING

Channel your inner Kindergarten self and do your best cutting along the edges of these. When in doubt, go into the edge of the color to ensure there are no white edges. White edges will make it look sloppy. Use good scissors or you’ll be mad.

SUPPLIES

Outside of the printables, you will need a few other things to make your printables work for your party.

You will also need:
Scissors
Hole Punch
Ribbon, String, or Twine
