How to throw an AWESOME Minecraft Birthday Party
If you’re here, you’re probably a lot like me when it comes to birthday parties. I LOVE going over the top with my parties and my kids and their friends look forward to it every year – and so do I!
If you ARE like me, you will probably want to join my Creative Party Planning group on Facebook. You can share your party pics there, or get ideas!
I’ve broken up these Minecraft Birthday Party ideas into sections so it’s easy to find what you need. I also made a list on Amazon of Minecraft Birthday Supplies that I used for my party, that you can see HERE.
If you’re just here for the Minecraft Birthday Party free printables, that’s okay too! I won’t make you scroll the whole post, so you can just go HERE to get those.
Minecraft Birthday Party Food Ideas
Cookies

I just bought mini Chips Ahoy cookies and paired them with the printable Cookies food card I made. I only used foods and ideas I could find in Minecraft, and my kid was fact checking me the whole way through – so rest easy using these.
Dirt Block Brownies

My daughter loves brownies, so I had to find a way to fit them into her Minecraft Birthday Party food. I used this awesome brownie pan that makes perfect all-edges brownies. Get the printable Minecraft food cards HERE.
Cooked Chicken

I made a big batch of chicken nuggets and put out the printable food card for cooked chicken, just like they have in Minecraft! They went over well as a savory snack.
Gold Bars

Hershey’s Gold Nuggets make the perfect excuse to have gold on your food table! Cheap and easy and you don’t have to make them.
TNT Licorice Boxes

These were a BLAST (pun TOTALLY intended) to make. I’ll post a full tutorial with free printable labels very soon. I used Red Vines instead of Twizzlers to make these, but you can use whatever you prefer. These would make great party favors too!
Water Bottles

I always like to have water bottles at my parties. It’s easy to customize with printable labels I make, and having water available is a great break from the sweets too. These are super easy. Print them on regular water, cut them out, remove the water bottle labels, and then tape these on! Easy!
Minecraft Birthday Cake

My aunt is AMAZING and makes birthday cakes for all my kids. This Minecraft birthday cake was one of my favorites!
Minecraft Birthday Decor
Creeper Backdrop

This was SO fun to make! I’ll post a full tutorial on how I made it soon. It’s a 4ft x 4ft foam board decor handmade by me in about 45 minutes from start to finish. So it’s not hard! It was amazing for a backdrop though!
Minecraft Printable Birthday Banner

These are so simple to print and hang. Print the banner on cardstock paper and cut it out. Use a hole punch on the top corners and then run a string or ribbon through and hang it.
Balloon Holders

On every table I placed a bunch of balloons held down with a cheap balloon weight. I used the 10″-12″ Minecraft characters and made them “hold” or stand near (like this Creeper) the balloon weights.
Some of the action figures she already had, and some I bought, used them as decor, and then let her keep them as some of her gifts after.
Enderman Box Head Decor

All I did was buy a medium sized square box from Walmart, trace out a long rectangle for the eyes, paint the rest of the box black (I used acrylic paint, but you could use spray paint too), then paint the eyes two shades of purple. SO EASY and makes a big statement as decor. I also made an ocelot that way too.
Minecraft Gift Bags

Okay, these aren’t actually decor, but they looked really cool on the gift table so it counts! I found this pack of gift bags on Amazon, and they were really great quality, so I had to share.
Minecraft Birthday Party Activities
Minecraft Egg Hunt

In Minecraft, apparently chicken eggs explode. Sometimes you get lucky and they actually give you a chicken.
This was so much fun for all ages. We had all the kids go in another room, while we hid these super cool pixelated eggs I found on Amazon. Each egg had a piece of paper in it (included in the printable Minecraft birthday party pack) with a number. ONE egg had the words, “grand prize” on it.
Each number represented a prize level. So I mostly had 1s, and for each 1 you found, you got a party popper (little safe explosives you can let kids do with confetti inside).
For every 2 and 3 they found, they got a small prize, like candy or other fun small prizes.
One lucky finder got the grand prize, which can be anything of your choosing. We did a cute Minecraft water bottle with a Minecraft surprise box inside. The birthday girl also got one as well.
Creeper Pinata

I found some pinatas, but none that I loved, especially for the price. So I made a Creeper Pinata. If you want to see how to make this DIY Creeper Pinata, you can see my tutorial HERE! No paper mache involved!
Minecraft Block Art

These 3D Minecraft block art crafts are SO much fun! They do take a lot of time, so you may just have the full blocks pre-made and they can just paint the pre-made bases. See the full tutorial and supply list for these HERE.

Overall, my sweet girl LOVED her Minecraft Birthday Party! She had so much fun, and everyone loved the theme! If you want to get the free printables I made, you can get those HERE.
If you want the supply list of stuff that I bought, you can see that HERE.
What’s Included in the Free Minecraft Birthday Party Printable Pack:

Exploding Eggs Game
TNT Box Labels
GENERAL PRINTABLE PARTY PACK TIPS
PRINTING
I get these printed professionally to save on ink and to make sure they’re high quality. I find it cheaper for me to have some place like Staples or the UPS Store print these for me than it is to use my printer’s ink. Maybe I just need a new printer.
Print everything BUT the water bottle labels, game, and TNT box labels on cardstock. Print the water bottle labels, game, and TNT box labels on regular paper so they’re more pliable.
Check the printable pack before printing so you can make sure you get enough of each item that you need. I only include a single shet of water bottle labels (which is 5 labels) so if you’re planning on having 30 bottles of water, make sure you print six of that page so you have enough. Use that same line of thinking with food cards, cupcake toppers etc.
CUTTING
Channel your inner Kindergarten self and do your best cutting along the edges of these. When in doubt, go into the edge of the color to ensure there are no white edges. White edges will make it look sloppy. Use good scissors or you’ll be mad.
SUPPLIES
Outside of the printables, you will need a few other things to make your printables work for your party.
You will also need:
Scissors
Hole Punch
Tape
Toothpicks
Bamboo Skewer Sticks
Ribbon or Twine
No matter how big or small your Minecraft Birthday Party is, I’m sure it will be amazing! If you used any of my ideas or printables, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
