I am not a big fan of things on the front of my fridge. This cute little Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet changed my mind about that because he’s so stinking cute, and can double as fall decor.

My kids really liked making these, and they were awesome for all ages. My kids have almost 6 years between them, so it can be tough to find crafts they both like. This Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet was a win!

How do you make a Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet?

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

To make this Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet you will need the following supplies:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Natural Raffia
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Orange Paint
  • Black Permanent Marker
  • Adhesive Magnet Strips
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • White School Glue
  • Paint Brushes

Step 2: Glue the raffia on the hat.

Cut 8-10 short pieces of natural raffia to be about 2″ long. Assemble a few on each side, as shown above. Use a dot of hot glue on each side to attach the raffia to the popsicle stick.

Step 3: Glue the popsicle sticks to the cardstock.

Glue seven popsicle sticks onto a piece of cardstock paper using school glue. Make sure they’re right next to each other. Wait about 10 minutes, to let the glue dry, and then trim the excess paper from around the outside of the popsicle sticks. If you want to use hot glue here, you can.

Step 4: Glue the hat brim on and paint.

Glue the stick you glued raffia hair onto the seven popsicle sticks. Tilt it a bit to give it a fun look if you want. I use hot glue for this, because of faster dry time.

Paint the brim of the hat and above orange, or whatever color you want his hat to be. I use an acrylic paint that you can get at Walmart for $0.50 a bottle. Keep the paint thin while you paint and it dries quickly.

Step 5: Add the magnet strips

Cut the magnet strips to be just shorter than the length of the scarecrow. Remove the adhesive backing, and stick one strip on each side of the Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet, as shown above.

Step 5: Add the face.

Use a fine tip black permanent marker to draw on the eyes and the mouth of your Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Magnet. Use a small paint brush to make his nose. Let the paint dry, and then you’re ready to display your magnet on your fridge!

I love the way this little guy turned out. Using the two magnet strips makes it a strong enough magnet to hold a couple of sheets of paper on its own easily.
