I’m guessing your house is similar to ours. By that I mean, I’m sure somewhere you have a plastic bag full of other plastic bags. We use Walmart bags for SO many things. Some of them may be ghetto, but we love to re-use and recycle as much as we can! Waste not, want not, right? 

50 Uses for Plastic Bags

  1. Bathroom Trash Bags
  2. Food Storage
    Have leftovers to put away? Just slip a plastic bag over the pot or pan. Works great!
  3. Replacement for Ziploc Baggies
  4. Cat Litter Clumps
    After scooping the cat box, put the clumps in a plastic bag and tie it off so it doesn’t stink up your trash can.
  5. Turn them into a Kite
  6. Purse Liners
    If you want to protect your purse from something sticky, just line it with a plastic bag first.
  7. Hair Dye Protector
    Hair dye can get everywhere if you’re doing an at-home dye job. Protect your home and clothing by tying your hair in a plastic bag.
  8. Shipping Cushion
    No peanuts, no problem.
  9. Travel Bags
    Stick leaky bottles like shampoo or body wash in a Walmart bag and tie them upright for dry travel.
  10. Plarn
    This stuff is used to make amazing things! Top of my list are homeless sleeping mats!

    This is especially handy in the winter. Layer socks, then plastic bag, then shoes, to keep everything dry.

    When traveling we always bring Walmart bags to keep our wet clothing separate from other clothing.
  18. Saran Wrap Alternative
    This is a great way to store cut fruit or vegetables.
  19. Keep Liquid Soap from Leaking During Travel
    Cut small squares to screw under the lids of liquid soap to keep them from leaking during travel. This is one of our most used uses for plastic bags.

    No one wants to smell those.

    If you have an art project that needs to stay wet, like clay or paintbrushes, put them in a plastic bag until later use.

    Protect the rest of your clothes from dirty shoes.

    After swimming or other wt activities, put a plastic bag on your car seat or kid’s seats to keep the seats dry.
  27. Leave-In Hair Treatment Protector
    If you’re using a hot oil treatment or hair mask, tie your hair up in a plastic bag to protect it while the treatment does its job.

    We used to use Walmart bags all the time to keep our shoes dry or clean when walking to and from the house in muddy conditions. Worked great!

    Make cute crinkle toys by filling the toy with pieces of the plastic from the Walmart bags.

    If your dog poops while on a walk in the city or at a park, pick it up with a Walmart bag. Saves you from buying doggie poop bags!

    My husband used to take his lunch to work every day in a Walmart sack.

  43. Clean Your Shower Head
    Fill the bag with Vinegar and Baking Soda and tie it around your shower head overnight.

  45. Keep Fireworks Dry
    Most firework stands give you paper bags, which absorb moisture. Stick the fireworks in a plastic bag until you’re ready for use.
