How to make this Candle Teacher Gift DIY

You will need:

Candle of your choice (labels will print at 15″ long, so just make sure your candle isn’t bigger around than that)
Free printable Candle Teacher Gift labels (prints 4 to a 11×17″ page)
Tape
Scissors

The first thing you will need to do is print out your labels. Usually, my printables print on regular 8.5×11″ paper, but because these needed to be longer, you NEED to print these on 11×17″ paper. They will print 4 labels to a page as shown above.

Cut the labels out for the candles you’re making. Then wrap the label around the candle to see if you need to trim any excess label length off the end.

You will want the label to overlap on itself by an inch or so to ensure full coverage. Use tape to secure your label to the candle, and then to itself.

Then, when you’re finished your candle should look something like this (unless you used the other label, that is haha).

Use any candle or scent, or even make your own candle (I make mine using recycled candles with this tutorial HERE – takes a few minutes tops and saves me a TON of money.)

Why make your Candle Teacher Gift?

I know there are lots of places that sell custom candles, or teacher themed candles etc. BUT, there are several reasons we like to make this Candle Teacher Gift instead of buying one pre-made.

  1. It’s cheaper. I can get a $4 candle (or, shoot you can get a candle from the dollar store) from Walmart, peel off the existing label (almost all candles have easy peel labels now) and put this custom label on it, and I have a killer teacher appreciation gift for less than $5! Custom candles from Yankee cost $40+!!!
  2. You feel better giving a gift you made yourself. Even though it’s a small amount of effort, you feel better knowing you gave something you put time into creating yourself.
  3. Kids can make this one! If they can use a pair of scissors, they can cut these out and make these candles themselves for their teachers.
  4. You can choose the candle scent by picking any candle you want for this craft! Make it personal by choosing something you know the teacher will like.
