Is this Copycat Treatzza Pizza hard to make?

Ice cream cakes are hard and have always intimidated me. I’ve always wanted to make one, but was terrified they wouldn’t turn out, or they’d melt, yada yada.

When I saw Dairy Queen’s Treatzza Pizzas, I thought to myself, “I can make that!” So I made a Copycat Dairy Queen Reese’s Treatzza Pizza!

How do you make a Chocolate Crunch Layer like Dairy Queen?

My biggest concern was being able to get that crunchy cookie most-delicious-thing-on-earth crust that Dairy Queen has right.

That stuff is my favorite. I mean, I will eat an entire slice of DQ ice cream cake, and eat everything but that chocolatey crunch, just so I can save it for last and savor every bite. I have figured out how to make it. And it’s AWESOME. Two ingredients!! That’s all you need.

The secret to making the chocolate crunch layer from a Dairy Queen ice cream cake is hot fudge and Oreos. You absolutely NEED to remove the creams from the Oreos for this to work correctly. It’s worth the time, trust me.

How do you make a Copycat Dairy Queen Reese’s Treatzza Pizza?

  1. o start off, set your ice cream out on the counter and remove the lid, to let it start softening while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. Then, you will need to remove all the creams from your Oreos cookies. I set out a small bowl, and just used a butter knife to slide the creams off. Then put the cookie pieces in a separate larger bowl.
  3. Next, use a large wooden spoon, or a potato masher, and crush the cookies. Don’t crush them too finely, because you still want that crunchy cookie texture.
  4. Microwave the jar of hot fudge without the lid for a minute. Stir it, then microwave for another 20 seconds.
  5. Dump the jar into the crushed cookies. Don’t scrape the jar clean, you’ll need it for drizzle later.
  6. Mix the cookies and hot fudge together until all the cookies are coated.
  7. Dump the mixture into a 9″ springform pan. Press it down in the bottom of the pan, to form a solid “crust.”
  8. Place it in the freezer for 15 minutes to allow it to set.
  9. Remove it from the freezer. Use a silicone spatula to spread the ice cream over the top of the cookie crust. Leave a little room on the edges without ice cream, so it looks like the Dairy Queen version.
  10. Sprinkle the miniature Reese’s on top of the ice cream. Drizzle the remaining hot fudge on top of the entire Treatzza.
  11. Cover with saran wrap and place flat in the freezer for 4-6 hours, or overnight for best results.
  12. Cut and serve frozen.

Tips and tricks for making a Treatzza Pizza

  • Softening. Do not OVER soften your ice cream, or it will freeze too hard when you re-freeze your Treatzza Pizza.
  • Oreo Creams. Don’t leave the creams in the Oreos to save time. The consistency and crunch won’t be the same.
  • Variations. If you wanted to use M&M’s, or Snickers, or Cookie Dough Bites, you absolutely could!
