DIY Essential Oil Diffuser Earrings
Making these super cute Diffuser Earrings takes just a few supplies and a few minutes. They make great gifts, or are a great way to save money by making them yourself as opposed to buying them. You can make a single pair, or make several so you have some to go with each outfit!
How do they work?
Diffuser Earrings are made with a type of rock called Lava Stone. Lava Stone is a porous rock that can absorb the oil. It holds the oil so it doesn’t escape the rock, and allows it to be dispensed slowly and naturally all day as you wear the earrings. One drop lasts about 24 hours. You can change the oil every day, or apply the same oil each day if you like.
If you use a lighter color like white Lava Stone, and then use a darker oil like cinnamon or clove, or a blend that contains those, it may discolor the Lava Stone. So just be prepared for that if you choose to work with white.

You will need:
Lava Stone Beads (the flowers I used I got from Etsy HERE)
Head Pins
Jump Rings
Earring Hooks
Small Needle Nose Pliers (this set comes with a ton of jump rings too)
The first thing you will need to do is run your head pin inside the bead. Use your jewelry pliers to cut the head pin with about 1/3″ left sticking out of the bead. Then use the pliers to curl the leftover end of the head pin into a circle at the top of the bead.
Then use your pliers to open your jump ring just a bit and slide it onto the loop you just made at the top of your bead. Add the earring hook onto the jump ring and then use your pliers to close the jump ring. That’s all she wrote!
When you’re ready to wear them, just add a single drop of oil directly onto the Lava Stone bead. The oil will last up to 24 hours. Switch up the oils as you want. Use whatever blend you want to benefit from for the day.
You don’t have to use the flower beads. They sell many different shapes. I also have circles, stars, ovals, triangles and more. They also have smaller beads that work just as well if you don’t like big earrings. I have found that the more matte Lava Stone works better than the shiny kind. So when buying, the more unrefined it is, the better it works in my opinion.
