I have a lot of bracelets. I mean, I have a lot of bracelets. Normally I keep them in a large storage box, but it’s a pain in the neck to see what I have, and to get to it. It’s not very organized, and makes it tough to find what I need, or even remember what I have. I made a fun necklace storage option using some hooks and an old wooden window frame a couple of years ago, but could never decide what I wanted to do for my bracelets. I came up with this DIY Soda Crate Bracelet Holder made from an upcycled wooden soda crate, and some glass soda bottles, and it’s perfect!
You will need:
Old wooden soda crate (you can find them at thrift shops, yard sales, antique stores etc)
Glass soda bottles
E6000 Epoxy
Tape measurer
Marking device (permanent marker, pencil etc)
Goo Be Gone, or orange essential oil
To begin, make sure your soda bottles are clean, and that you remove any stickers. My soda bottles were newer versions, so the “label” is printed on the glass itself, but they did have barcode stickers on them that I had to remove. If you have, or want to use, Goo Be Gone, just follow the instructions on the bottle. I have a ton of essential oils at my house, so I just used a few drops of orange oil to remove the stickers. Simply drop a couple of drops on the sticker itself, and use your fingers to saturate the sticker. Let it sit in the sink for a couple of minutes. After a couple of minutes, the sticker should just peel off. There will be some sticky residue, so just put another drop on, mix with some dish soap, and just wash it off. The bottle will then be completely clear of any sticky residue.
First, I tested to see if my widest bracelets were going to have enough room once the bottles were attached. I had more than enough space in my little crate for three bottles, so that’s what I went with.
Next I measured the inside of the crate, where I was going to attach the bottles. I found the middle measurement, then found the measurement in the middle of that measurement. For example, my box was 16 1/2″ wide, so the halfway, or middle, was 8 1/4″. Then to center the other two bottles, I needed half of 8 1/4″, which is 4 1/8″. So I just put my middle dot, then measured 4 1/8″ from the middle dot on each side to find where the side bottles would go.
The last step in making your DIY Soda Crate Bracelet Holder, is so simple. Just put a generous amount of the E600 on the bottom rim of the bottles, and place them on your dots that you made! Leave it in a place where it can dry for 24 hours. You can either leave this sitting on a desk, shelf, or vanity, or you can attach a hanger on the back of it and put it on the wall, like I did.
Not only is this perfect, and adorable to make for yourself, but this would also be a great gift! It’s perfect for a birthday gift, Mother’s Day gift, housewarming gift, wedding gift etc. This DIY Soda Crate Bracelet Holder takes just a few minutes to make, and I made mine for about $10, since all I had to purchase was the crate!
