Before we made this Dog Treat Holder, we had a cabinet where all the dog treats and leashes were shoved. You pulled out a leash, and all the treats, brushes, and other leashes came tumbling out. It was the best. That’s obviously sarcasm. I had an idea of what I wanted to build and convinced my husband to make it for me, and now not only do we have a Dog Treat Holder, but it looks nice and all our stuff is organized too. Win win!

We have two adorable dogs. Pictured above is our adorable giant, Growlithe. He loves the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Hickory Smoked Turkey Bacon Treats. Every dog is different, so different treats may work better or be more appealing to different dogs. I remember growing up I had a horse named Cinnamon. Everyone says that horses love carrots, but she would have absolutely nothing to do with them. Their tastebuds are different just like ours. We also have a younger, smaller (for now) dog named Missy that eats the Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Oven-Browned Chicken Sausage Bites. They’re easier for her to chew and swallow since they are smaller. Always make sure your dog is chewing the Nutrish Treats well before swallowing. If they can’t do that, tear the Nutrish Treats into smaller pieces before giving them to your dog to help. One of the reasons we made the Dog Treat Holder, is that is kept us from giving them multiple treats at once (because who can say no to those adorable faces?!), which saves us money too. Dog Treat Holder
Back to the DIY Dog Treat Holder. It’s super easy to make and can be done is about 30 minutes. Realistically I told my husband what I wanted, and he made it happen because he’s awesome. We used repurposed wood from an old fence, but you could easily use new wood for this project too.
You will need:
(3) boards 4″ wide x 16″ tall
(2) boards 12″ wide x 4″ tall
(12) 1″ wood screws
(1) wall hanger
(2) Mason Quart Jars
(2) 3″ Hose Clamps
Woof Hanger
Paint for optional color pop
Once your have your boards cut to length, you will need to screw them together. You can see from the back of the Dog Treat Holder, that you will need to put two screws into each vertical board to attach it firmly to the horizontal boards. Put one horizontal board at the top, and one at the bottom. Attach the wall hanger to the top board in the center so it hangs straight. At this point, if you wanted to add a pop of color to the front of it, you can. I dry-brushed some red paint onto mine to give it some character and like the way it looks.
Screw the hose clamps onto the front (the 3″ size will work perfectly for a regular mouthed quart-size mason jar) and then tighten them around the neck of the mason jars. Then screw the woof hanger onto the front of the Dog Treat Holder underneath the mason jars. Fill the jars with Nutrish Treats and then put the lid on the jars to keep them fresh!
Not you can keep your leashes right by the treats, and they look cute too! We mounted ours right by our back door so we can grab and go easily! Didn’t it turn out great? I can’t wait for you to make your own Dog Treat Holder!
