Candles and fall are the most perfect pairing. Sitting snuggled in a blanket with a cup of something warm to drink with a candle burning and a good book is about the most perfect fall day I can imagine!

Thanksgiving is always such a precious time to kick off the giving season, in my opinion. Taking the time to remind those around you how much you value and appreciate them is something we should all do more often.

These DIY Thanksgiving candles are super easy to make! They have free printable labels that turn an ordinary candle into a sweet seasonal candle, and they even make great gifts!

These are perfect for teacher gifts, coworker gifts, and just Thanksgiving thank you gifts in general!

If you’re just here for the free printables, and don’t want to read the tips on printing and instructions on how to put these together below, then you can get those HERE.

How do you make these DIY Thanksgiving Candles?

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

You will need:

  • Free Printable Thanksgiving Candle Labels
  • Candles
  • 11×17 Paper
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Step 2: Print out the candle labels.

When you print out these candle labels, they print two to a sheet. You absolutely need to print these on 11×17 paper or they won’t fit your candle.

There are two different size options when you print. One sheet is for larger candles, like the big ones I used, and the other sheet is for smaller candles.

The smaller labels are only 3″ high, for size reference.

Step 3: Cut out and attach the labels to the candle.

Use a sharp pair of scissors and cut out the candle labels you want to use.

I found these big pretty candles at Walmart for $5.00. My mom found some really good big candles at the dollar store too, so shop around if you’re on a budget, or go all out if you want to give a great gift!

Pro Tip: When choosing a candle for this project, get one that doesn’t taper in size. Candles that are the same width all the way up work best.

Place the label around your candle to see if you need to trim any excess off to fit.

Tape one end of the label to the back of your candle.

Wrap the other side around the candle, being sure to keep it lined up and pulled snugly, and then use a piece of tape to secure it.

Pro Tip: If you REALLY want this to look nice, use a double-sided adhesive roller (I ALWAYS keep these on hand) and use it to glue down the label to the back instead of tape.
