When my daughter said she wanted an Animal Crossing themed birthday party this year, I knew it was going to be fun to put together! All the fun island vibes were so easy to incorporate!
When I started to look for inspiration for Animal Crossing birthday parties, I couldn’t find a lot! So I made my own printable decorations, and am sharing them with you here in case you want some ideas too!
We always go way overboard on parties, because it’s just so much fun! We’ve done a Minecraft birthday party, a Nintendo Birthday Party, and even a Lisa Frank birthday, and a Spongebob birthday party!
If you’re just here for the free printables, and don’t want to read the tips on printing and instructions on how to put these together below, then you can get those HERE.
How to throw an AWESOME Animal Crossing Birthday Party
There are some key elements to throwing an awesome birthday party, in my book, and they look something like this:
- Awesome themed party food.
- Amazing themed cake.
- Fun-themed activity.
- Incredible decorations to transform your venue.
- Themed party favors.
See how I incorporated all of these into this fun Animal Crossing themed birthday party below!
Animal Crossing Birthday Party Food Ideas
Animal Crossing Birthday Cake
My aunt makes all of our birthday cakes for parties. When I told her I needed an Animal Crossing birthday cake, she was excited!
After she made the base cake, I ordered these little Animal Crossing figures from Amazon to add the final touch to this awesome Animal Crossing birthday cake. Didn’t she do an amazing job?
Cupcakes
Part of the free printable Animal Crossing birthday pack I put together includes these adorable food cards and cupcake toppers!
You can use the food cards with the printed words on them, or left some blank templates for you to fill in your own party food ideas too!
Be sure to print them and the cupcake toppers on cardstock paper.
To make these cute cupcake toppers, print them out on cardstock paper and cut them out (they print twelve to a page, so keep that in mind if you need more.)
Tape a toothpick to the back of them and insert them into your cupcakes!
They feature all your favorite Animal Crossing characters and symbols from the game!
Catch of the Day Goldfish Crackers
Fishing is a fun part of Animal Crossing, so we brought it to the party with Goldfish snacks!
I put all the food in these cute tropical leaf trays I found on Amazon!
Nook’s Cranny Popcorn
Nook”s Cranny had to make an appearance, so we had them provide the popcorn for the party!
Umbrella Straws
I found these at the dollar store, but they super easy to find everywhere. These fit the island vibe perfectly.
Animal Crossing Water Bottles
I always like to have water bottles at my parties. It’s easy to customize with printable labels I make, and having water available is a great break from the sweets too.
These are super easy. Print them on regular paper, cut them out, remove the water bottle labels, and then tape these on! Easy!
They print five to a page, so do the math before printing to make sure you have enough for your party.
Animal Crossing Birthday Decorations
Animal Crossing Backdrop
I’m a HUGE fan of getting fabric backdrops from Amazon to put on a feature wall for my parties! This one was incredibly affordable and was 5 ft x 7 ft.
I use velcro to attach them to the walls and it works out great.
Animal Crossing Birthday Banner
These are so simple to print and hang. Print the banner on cardstock paper and cut it out. Use a hole punch on the top corners and then run a string or ribbon through and hang it.
Pineapple Centerpieces
I found these pineapple table centerpieces on Amazon and they were the perfect tropical touch to the tables!
Flower Table Runners
These tropical garlands are so colorful and fun. I’ve used them for parties before and absolutely love how colorful and full they are!
They’re paper so they will store easily after the party if you want to save them again to use later.
The table cloths I found were more expensive than I normally pay for plastic table cloths, but they were absolutely worth it. They were nice!
I have also started using chair covers to cover the chairs at my party venue. They aren’t expensive and can be reused or sold easily after the party.
They add a HUGE element of color to the room and I will use them from now on.
Balloon Towers
Skip the helium and start using balloon towers and trees instead!
These are super inexpensive and can be reused over and over again!
I was able to get two tower stands that were 6 ft tall and two trees that are 5 ft tall for less than the price of one tank of helium on Amazon!
Palm Tree Cooler
This was one of my favorite things to have at the party! It’s an inflatable palm tree cooler for drinks!
It does hold a lot of ice. We had to use about 50 lbs of ice to fill it up, so keep that in mind when planning.
Animal Crossing Birthday Party Party Favors
Bell Bags
I made these cute Animal Crossing party favors for guests to take home! They look like bell bags from the game, and were really simple.
To make them, all you need to is buy these little yellow drawstring bags, and these little brown felt stars.
Glue the stars to the front of the bags using hot glue, and then fill them with yellow candy. We used mini butterfingers and pineapple Jelly Belly jelly beans.
If you want the supply list of stuff that I bought, you can see that HERE.
Animal Crossing Birthday Activities
Golden Big Hunt
We played a fun game of golden bug hunt! In the video game, players can collect different types of bugs and take them to the museum.
For this game I found some toy bugs, and painted one of them gold. Then I hid them around the room before the party started.
For the game, kids had to find the bugs. The player who found the golden bug won a prize.
It was SO much fun and went over really well!
What’s Included in the Free Animal Crossing Birthday Party Printable Pack:
- Banner
- Water Bottle Labels
- Food Cards
- Cupcake Toppers
GENERAL PRINTABLE PARTY PACK TIPS
PRINTING
I get these printed professionally to save on ink and to make sure they’re high quality. I find it cheaper for me to have some place like Staples or the UPS Store print these for me than it is to use my printer’s ink. Maybe I just need a new printer.
Print everything BUT the water bottle labels on cardstock. Print the water bottle labels on regular paper so they’re more pliable.
Check the printable pack before printing so you can make sure you get enough of each item that you need. I only include a single sheet of water bottle labels (which is 5 labels) so if you’re planning on having 30 bottles of water, make sure you print six of that page so you have enough. Use that same line of thinking with food cards, cupcake toppers etc.
CUTTING
Channel your inner Kindergarten self and do your best cutting along the edges of these. When in doubt, go into the edge of the color to ensure there are no white edges. White edges will make it look sloppy. Use good scissors or you’ll be mad.
SUPPLIES
Outside of the printables, you will need a few other things to make your printables work for your party.
You will also need:
Scissors
Hole Punch
Tape
Toothpicks
Ribbon or Twine
No matter how big or small your Animal Crossing Birthday Party is, I’m sure it will be amazing! If you used any of my ideas or printables, I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
