Not all of us love bright colors and traditional holiday decor! Believe it or not there are a lot of people who love the minimalist look no matter the holiday.
Buffalo Plaid is gorgeous and makes beautiful home decor no matter what the season! I’ve used it to make adorable Flannel Trees, and Wood and Flannel Trees at Christmastime, and even Buffalo Plaid Shamrock Signs for St. Patrick’s Day.

How do you make this DIY Buffalo Plaid Easter Sign?
Step 1: Gather your supplies.
You will need:
- Blank Wooden Sign (I get mine at Walmart)
- Wooden Bunny Decor (I found a floral one at Hobby Lobby)
- Buffalo Plaid Carrots (also found at Hobby Lobby, or you could use regular orange carrots too)
- Black Acrylic Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 2: Paint the bunny.
It was super easy to find plain or patterned bunnies, but really hard to find a plain black one. So I found a floral bunny in the silhouette I wanted at Hobby Lobby (or you can get plain ones here on Amazon) and decided to paint it black.
I used black acrylic paint and a foam brush to paint my wooden bunny.
After the first coat, it looked like this. Normally I like the rustic look where you can see brush strokes, but for this craft, I needed solid black.
After two coats it was fully colors. Use thin layers and it will dry quickly.
Step 3: Glue the bunny to the sign.
The white wooden sign was about $5 at Walmart. You can find them in lots of shapes and sizes in the craft department.
The sign I used was 10″ x 10″ and worked great. It already had a hanger attached too.
Step 4: Attach the buffalo plaid carrots to the sign.
I found my adorable buffalo plaid carrots at Hobby Lobby. They had several different patterns and colors, but these were perfect.
Several came in the package for about $3.50, but I only used three of them.
Use hot glue to attach them to the sign. I did two carrots on the bottom, and then glued the third carrot on top of the first two.
That’s all there is to making your DIY Buffalo Plaid Easter Sign! It’s adorable and the perfect minimalist Easter decor for your home!
