How do you make a DIY Seed Bouquet Gift?
Step 1: Gather your supplies.
You will need:
- Small Flower Pot (these are SO cute!)
- Seed Packets ( I used six packets, but you could easily use 8 or 10 if you wanted as well)
- Floral Foam
- Bamboo Skewers
- Green Paper Straws
- Green Shredded Paper
- Tape
- Hot Glue Gun
- Ribbon for a bow
Step 2: Cut and place your floral foam.
The first thing you will need to do is to cut the floral foam to fit in your flower pot. Make it square and shorter than your pot and really wedge it in there firmly – this will keep you from having to glue it in (I use this method with my Yarn Bouquet as well).
Step 3: Add the bamboo skewers.
Next, you will need to add in the bamboo skewers. Leave the back ones taller than the front ones so it displays better.
Pro Tip: Play around with different angles and spaces to find the perfect fit!
Step 4: Add in the shredded paper.
After your skewers are in, put a handful of green paper shred over the top to cover the foam. No need to glue here, as it will stay in place on its own.
Step 5: Attach the seed packets to the straws.
Use regular tape and tape your paper straws to your seed packets. I put the straw about halfway up the seed packets and then taped them on. Easy peasy!
I used a mix of perennial and annual seeds to create some variety, but you could pick whatever you wanted! You can find seed packets for as cheap as $0.20 each at places like Dollar General!
I used green paper straws to mimic flower stems, but you could use whatever colors you liked.
Step 6: Slide the straws onto the skewers to finish your DIY Seed Bouquet.
Next for your DIY Seed Bouquet, you will need to slide the paper straws onto the skewers. Trim the straws as needed to get them to the right height.
These can wiggle around, so if traveling with this gift at all, I suggest adding a bit of hot glue to the bottom of the paper straw against the floral foam to keep it from spinning around.
Use some small ribbon to make a little bow, and hot glue it to the front of your flower pot to finish up your DIY gift.
That’s it! That’s all it takes to make a DIY Seed Bouquet gift! Who will you give yours to?
