I love making home decor for holidays. Not only is it more cost-effective, but it’s also more fun! My kids love to get in there and help, and this is definitely something they can help do. My three-year-old helped paint all these little hearts and had a blast.

How do you make this Wooden Heart Valentine Sign?
Step 1: Gather your supplies.
You will need:
- White Wooden Sign (I got mine at Walmart)
- Acrylic Paint in light pink, dark pink, and red.
- Valentine 1″ ribbon
- Wooden Hearts (I used these from Amazon)
- Paintbrush
- Hot Glue Gun
The pre-made wooden signs that are already painted are really affordable at Walmart. I used one of those to save me time and steps.
These little bottles are only $0.50 each at Walmart and are more than enough paint for this project. I grabbed a pastel pink, a darker more standard pink, and a flag red for mine.
Step 2: Align your big hearts.
Before you glue or paint anything, align the big hearts (in the ones I link to, they’re the second-biggest hearts in the bag) in a heart-shape. I used 14 of these to make mine.
Step 3: Paint and glue the big hearts.
Once you’re happy with the layout, then paint and glue them one at a time to keep your design from messing up. You only need to do this with the biggest hearts. I painted mine red, but you could choose any order you wanted for paint color.
Step 4: Paint and glue the medium hearts.
Next, you will need to paint and glue down the medium hearts. I just used hot glue and put them in the center of the big hearts. Paint the hearts first, and then glue for best results. I used the dark pink for the medium hearts.
Step 5: Paint and glue the small hearts.
Next you will follow the same method as you did for the medium hearts to paint and glue the small hearts.
Step 6: Attach a bow.
I thought it looked a little plain by itself, so I made a bow from some pink ribbon I had on hand and glued it to the top center. I also painted a small heart red and glued it to the top of the bow to finish the look.
I’m in love with the way this Wooden Heart Valentine Sign turned out, and now have this proudly hanging on my wall in my living room! It pairs nicely with the other Valentine’s Day home decor I’ve made.
