Everyone has their own preferences for what makes a lotion one of the best tanning lotions or not, so read through the list to see which one of these meets your criteria. Which one of these will you try next?
Before I give you my list of the best tanning lotions, I want to give you some tips so you can get the most out of these.
- Gloves. Use rubber gloves to apply your lotion before you tan. The palms of your hands hold onto color more than the rest of your body, and I’ve found that even when I clean them with a baby wipe after applying lotion, that I still get kind of an orangey tint if I don’t use the gloves.
- Palms & Soles. Don’t apply to the palms of your hands or the soles of your feet. For the same reasons listed above, you’ll have bad results if you do this.
- Streaks. Evenly apply the lotion to keep from getting streaks.
- Sticker. Use a tanning sticker in the same place daily to track your progress!

Can I use regular lotion in a tanning bed?
While it’s beneficial to ensure your skin is moist when you tan, which is one of the biggest benefits of using a tanning lotion in the first place, regular lotion isn’t going to really do anything to enhance your tanning experience. Tanning lotions will actually continue working even after you get out of the tanning bed to give you long lasting color.

You can’t go wrong with Ed Hardy brands, really. I love this lotion, and it comes at a good price tag as well.
Supre Smoke Black Bronzer, Tanning Lotion, 10.5 oz.
This one has excellent reviews and smells awesome too. Definitely one of the best tanning lotions out there.
Tan Asz U LUAU 200X Island Black Bronzer – 13.5 oz.
This one smells AMAZING. I used it for a long time and not only was it one of the best tanning lotions, but it also smelled fantastic.

I used this one for a long time too, and really liked the color it gave me. Great lotion.

This one is one of my favorites on this list of best tanning lotions. I’m using this one currently and am really happy with it. Just a great lotion all the way around.
Tan Asz U BEACH BLACK Max Silicone Bronzer Tanning Lotion 13.5 oz.
Tan ASZ U is also an awesome brand of tanning lotions. They have great reviews and great color. Beach Black is great for getting dark fast if you need to.
Island Black 200X Bronzer Tanning Lotion By Tan ASZ U
Another good one from Tan ASZ U is Island Black. This one is a 200x bronzer, so it develops great color quicker than other lotions.
Hawaiian Tropic Lime Coolada After Sun Moisturizer 16 oz
This isn’t a tanning lotion, BUT it’s what I use when I’m done tanning, straight out the tanning bed. Use this in conjunction with one of the listed best tanning lotions, and it will help retain your tan and keep your from burning as easily too. Can’t speak highly enough of it!
